Berry Banana Smoothie Bowl with Almond Butter

Have you ever made a smoothie bowl? My oldest daughter introduced these to me and I've become a fan! Maybe it's because I prefer to 'eat' my smoothie instead of drinking it. Or maybe it's from the ability I have to modify the ingredients based on what's in my fridge and freezer. I encourage you to let your kitchen creativity bring out your own version of this basic recipe. I hope you'll find these to be a fun addition to your breakfast routine, too. Enjoy!


This recipe is easily doubled to serve another one or two.


Berry Banana Smoothie Bowl with Almond Butter (serves 1)

1 cup mixed frozen berries

1/2 cup orange juice

1 tablespoon almond butter

1/2 banana, sliced

Garnishes: 1 teaspoon each- sliced almonds, chia seeds, shredded coconut


In a blender, combine frozen berries and juice. Blend until smooth. (You may need to add more juice to get desired consistency). Place contents into serving bowl(s). Top with almond butter, sliced bananas and sprinkle with garnishes. Enjoy!
